Be Willing to Be Vulnerable
Do you often feel like you're guarding against pain or unpleasantness? Holding back a piece of your heart? Refusing to "stick your neck out" in case you get hurt? If you do, you are definitely not alone. Most of us do this at times. Some of us do it a lot!
What it comes down to is a fear of being vulnerable. You're afraid to take a risk because you might get hurt or feel disappointed. But holding back causes another kind of pain, and that pain can be worse than the pain you're trying to guard against. It's the pain of numbness, of isolation and loneliness, of regret and unrealized potential.
Today, be willing to be vulnerable, even if just a little bit. Take a small chance. Share a little more of yourself. Open up to the people that matter to you. Be willing to trust that it will work out for the best.
If it doesn't, you'll still feel proud of yourself for your bravery.
